Dubai witnessed the Third Edition of the Unique Valves Program in the MENA Region “GIS Valves Program 2024”
The GIS concluded its third edition of the “Medical Educational program” which is considered the first of its kind in the MENA region. The program focused this year on the latest cardiac treatment developments.
The event was held at Conrad Hotel Dubai from May 31 to June 1st and discussed the most recent treatments of cardiovascular diseases, cardiac catheterization, operations and research from specialists worldwide, and aims to spread awareness of the importance of cardiac surgery and catheterizations, which is the leading cause of death globally.
The event was attended by over 650 participants and speakers, including interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, technicians, and nurses from across the Middle East and around the world. The program consisted of 7 focused sessions, 4 live streaming of complex cases, and 7 workshops.
This conference has also been accredited by the European Council for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC) with the equivalent of 12 hours of continuing medical education for external accreditations. The event was organized by ICOM Group.
Dr. Fawaz Al-Mutairi, the President of the Gulf Intervention Society and Cardiologist King Abdulaziz Cardiac Center National Guard Hospital, Riyadh said: “The society’s primary initiative is to attract young doctors and provide grants at all its conferences as it is part the society vision for younger generation we had this year doctors from India, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Siri Lanka and Turkey.”
Al Mutairi added, “The specialized simulation workshops for cardiac and structural intervention, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and cardiac surgery provided valuable scientific material for the attendees.
These workshops offered training opportunities for attendees to practice and use the techniques during the conference, which had a high turnout in this year’s edition.”
The executive board members of the GIS awarded the scientific committee that contributed to the development of this program; Dr. Sondos Samargandy, Dr. Salem Assiri, Dr. Mohammed Alreshidan (Saudi Arabia), Dr. Ahmed Alshatti (Kuwait), Dr. Abdulrahman Alnabti (Qatar), Dr. Arif Al Nooryani (UAE), Dr. Fahad Baslaib (UAE), Dr. Husam Noor (Bahrain), and Dr. Mohammed Al Mukhaini (Oman) and awarded as well the contributed companies for their support.
The Gulf Intervention Society will be holding its annual conference this year from November 28th to 30th at the Intercontinental Festival City Hotel in Dubai. The event will feature wider participation from specialists who will be working side by side and live streaming to reach the largest possible audience.
