The University of Kufa has announced its participation, as the first Iraqi university, in an international research project under the Horizon Europe programme through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Staff Exchanges, marking a significant step in expanding its engagement with international scientific research initiatives.

The project, titled HyperXAI: Hypercompositional Explainable Artificial Intelligence – Mathematical Foundations for Trustworthy Models, is coordinated by the Krakow University of Technology in Poland and brings together researchers from nine countries: Poland, Spain, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Iraq, South Korea, and Brazil.

According to the university, the project secured competitive funding from the European Union after receiving an outstanding scientific evaluation score of 94.8%, reflecting its research significance in advancing trustworthy and explainable artificial intelligence.

The project aims to develop the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence by employing higher-order algebraic structures, contributing to the development of AI systems that are more transparent, accurate, and reliable in complex applications.

The University of Kufa is represented in the project by a research team from the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, including Professor Dr. Salam Hassan Muhaysin, Dean of the College; Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Abdul Hussein Shukr, Head of the Research Team; Dr. Haneen Kareem Hussein; Dr. Hasnain Murtadha Hassan; and Fahad Ghalib Kadhim.

The university stated that its participation reflects its strategy to strengthen international research partnerships and expand its presence within global scientific networks, particularly through leading European research and innovation programmes.
