MIHAS 2022 IN MALAYSIA POISED TO SPUR GLOBAL HALAL ECONOMY

Jeddah, gulftech – The upcoming 18th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2022) is set to further stimulate cross-border trade. Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), under the patronage of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), MIHAS 2022 is designed with digital tools to facilitate global buyers and exhibitors in marketing their Halal products and services.

In a statement, MATRADE’s flagship event will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur from 7 to 10 September 2022 with a simultaneous global digital presence.

“Greater interest and participation of burgeoning Halal markets is a critical bright spot and we look forward to at this year’s showcase. We are excited to connect established brands and newcomers to explore the potential of the vast global Halal market”, it said.

MATRADE Trade Commissioner in Jeddah Faizalkhan Jaafar said that MIHAS has been an ideal international platform that attracts private and public stakeholders from all over the world, including the Middle East region to source for quality Halal products from Malaysia and ideate innovative solutions to cater to the development of the global Halal industry, which is estimated at USD 2.3 trillion.

Malaysia’s Halal exports in 2021 were mainly driven by the Food and Beverage, Halal Ingredients, Cosmetics and Personal Care, Palm Oil Derivatives and Pharmaceutical segments.

“With this year’s theme of ‘Diversifying Halal Possibilities’, we are excited to have delegations from Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Palestine among others that will be exhibiting and participating in the one-on-one business meetings and as this event is acknowledged as one of the key gateways into the global Halal ecosystem”, Faizalkhan said.

MIHAS 2022 will be complementing digital tools to integrate three major components which is the iconic showcase itself, the International Sourcing Programme (INSP), which facilitates one-to-one business meetings and the MIHAS Connect feature, an artificial intelligence-assisted business-matching suite that matches exhibitors to trade visitors. It also features Knowledge Hub sessions with a line-up of distinguished speakers.

Adding further value, the MIHAS Awards are making a comeback and poised to recognise innovative and sustainable excellence showcased by local and foreign Halal brands. The awards are open to participating exhibitors and submissions are being accepted from 1 June till 1 August 2022 for evaluation by accomplished Halal industry captains.

MIHAS 2022 features industry clusters comprising of Pharmaceuticals, Islamic Finance, Modest Fashion, Media and Recreation, Cosmetics and Personal Care, Food Technology, Franchise, Muslim-friendly Travel, Services and Enablers, Education, and e-Commerce.
