MCIT, CITC and Huawei partner for Seeds for the Future 2022 in Saudi Arabia

·        Tech4Good global competition returns for the second year running, inviting young people to explore how digital technologies can address social issues


Saudi Arabia, gulftech, The 2022 edition of Huawei’s Seeds for the Future has opened in Saudi Arabia, offering college undergraduates and fresh graduates the opportunity to join an online experience around technology innovation and cross-cultural exchange. Held in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MITC) and the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), the initiative will engage 49 Saudi youth in Huawei’s cutting-edge ICT, experience traditional and modern Chinese culture, and hone their professional development.
Huawei will also hold the Tech4Good global competition for the second year running, inviting young people to explore how digital technologies can address social issues. Through group projects, Tech4Good wants to increase social entrepreneurship, build problem-solving and leadership skills through teamwork, and deepen a sense of social responsibility.
said, “Part of Saudi Vision 2030 is a fast-tracked transition to a digitally-led, knowledge-based economy. Accelerating our ICT talent pipeline is crucial to this goal. We are keen to partner with like-minded organizations such as Huawei to support our objectives. The Ministry congratulates participants to this year’s event and pledges to support the country’s youth to make a valuable contribution to our nation’s digital transformation goals.”   
Eng. Muath S. Al-Rumayh, Director of International Negotiation at Communications and  Information Technology Commission said, “Through collaboration with Huawei in organizing Seeds of the Future, CITC aims to nurture our country’s ICT talents which in return contribute in elevating various sectors in the Kingdom over the years. We also look forward to innovative ideas emerging from this year’s event.”

During the eight-day Seeds for the Future program, participants will receive entry-level and advanced courses on key technologies, including 5G, cloud computing and AI. They will also experience virtual tours of Chinese scenic spots or fast-growing companies and a glimpse at Huawei’s history and technological developments, including virtual exploration of Huawei exhibition halls, campus and stores. Huawei experts, entrepreneurs, professors and scientists will also be at hand to share perspectives on a wide range of topics, from cybersecurity to the aerospace industry.
Seeds for the Future is built around communities so participants can immerse themselves in interactive and dynamic classrooms where group discussions, debates, and round table dialogues will be arranged to ensure cross-cultural exchanges with global peers. Meanwhile, an eventful alumni calendar features year-long exclusive webinars, round table dialogues, celebration events, and more to strengthen community spirit.
Finally, Seeds for the Future includes a global competition inviting participants to develop innovations and compete for prizes with the other technological projects created by students worldwide.
Since Seeds for the Future was launched in 2008, more than 12,000 students have participated from 137 countries and featured 180 endorsements from top government and non-government officials. Last year’s event attracted 54 Saudi students shortlisted from different universities across the Kingdom.
