Robotized production may be disrupted for weeks by a cyberattack, according to employees from Saudi Arabia

Robotics are used together with industrial control systems for production, replacing manual labor and improving business efficiency. However, according to Kaspersky research[1], the majority of employees in manufacturing companies in Saudi Arabia – 76% – believe that because of possible cyberattacks on robots, there are significant risks. For instance, 65% of employees think that in case of a cyberattack, production processes run by robots can be disrupted and stalled for several weeks or even longer.

Only 13% of employees believe disabled robots can be fixed immediately in case of a cyberattack, and 21% say it would take a few days. More than half of employees (65%) expect that recovery operations would take a significantly longer time: 55% said it would take from a few weeks to half a year, 5% think it will take from 7 months to 1 year, and 5% believe the production outage in case of a cyberattack on robots would last for more than a year.
