Making mental health a priority: Snap Inc. launches ‘Here For You’ in collaboration

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – gulftech: In collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Snap Inc. today launched its in-app mental health platform, ‘Here for You’, in Saudi Arabia to mark World Mental Health day.
 
The ‘Here for You’ portal provides proactive in-app support to Snapchatters who may be experiencing a mental health or emotional crisis or are curious to learn more about these issues and how they can help friends deal with them. When Snapchatters search for key terms associated with mental health, Snapchat surfaces ‘Here for You’, providing the user with vetted resources from trusted mental health partners.
 
Nasser AlNasser, Assistant Deputy Minister for Technology and Investment at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said: “We are pleased to partner with Snap Inc. to launch ‘Here for You’ in the KSA. At MCIT, we have strived to create engaging platforms that enhance the digital well-being of KSA citizens and educate them about the purposeful use of technology. With this partnership, we are giving Snapchatters access to an innovative tool which will enable them to address mental health challenges and subsequently encourages snapchatters to have a positive lifestyle.”
 
The launch of the ‘Here for You’ portal features six episodes from the MCIT bullying prevention squad, covering a series of topics including bullying.

The launch of ‘Here For You’ is an impactful medium reaching over 90% of 13-34 year-olds in KSA, providing support and education for young people through an in-app experience. At Snap, we remain committed to ensuring our community has access to critical mental health resources and continue to prioritize our community’s wellbeing.”
 
Snap collaborates with leading non-profit and safety organizations to provide Snapchatters with in-app mental health and wellbeing resources. The content is focused on mental health, bullying prevention, suicide prevention, depression, anxiety and grief. 
 
Snapchatters will start to see ‘Here for You’ resources from MCIT when they search for prevalent mental health phrases like bullying, stress, anxiety, or depression. These tools are designed to be easily shared with close friends and family to support one another through the highs and lows.
 
Snapchat was built to support real friendships and with a monthly addressable reach of 20 million in Saudi Arabia, ‘Here For You’ will provide the community with a safe space where Snapchatters can seek guidance as well as support those they care about.
 
Snapchatters can access Here For You by following these steps:
 
●      Open the latest version of the Snapchat mobile app
●      Unless you’re a new user who has to first sign up, you should see the Camera.
●      Look for the Search button (magnifying glass icon) up top, and tap it.
●      Now, start typing in the Search field. Type “Here For You” to find the feature and subscribe, or type words related to mental health crises and Here For You will be surfaced.
