The venue became the stage for an inspiring afternoon dedicated to raising awareness about the interconnectivity between cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic (CRM) diseases<a id=\"_ftnref1\" href=\"#_ftn1\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a> and the importance of early diagnosis.<a id=\"_ftnref2\" href=\"#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a><sup>,<a id=\"_ftnref3\" href=\"#_ftn3\">[3]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With over 850 million people living with chronic kidney disease,<a id=\"_ftnref4\" href=\"#_ftn4\">[4]<\/a> 589 million with diabetes,<a id=\"_ftnref5\" href=\"#_ftn5\">[5]<\/a> and 64 million with heart failure,<a id=\"_ftnref6\" href=\"#_ftn6\">[6]<\/a> the need for awareness and action is more pressing than ever. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event brought together <strong>Dr. Mona Alrukhaimi, President of the Emirates Medical Association for Nephrology and Transplantation<\/strong>; <strong>Dr. Nadya Almatrooshi, General Secretary and Head of Heart Failure Working Group of the Emirates Cardiac Society<\/strong>; <strong>Dr. Mohamed Farghaly, Scientific Committee Chairperson of the Emirates Family Medicine Society<\/strong>; Boehringer Ingelheim colleagues; and <strong>football star Ahmed Fathy<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drawing parallels between teamwork on the pitch and the body\u2019s interconnected CRM systems, the event emphasized that \u2013 just like in football \u2013 when one player struggles, the whole team feels the pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the heart of the event stood a giant yellow card, football\u2019s universal symbol of warning, reimagined as a \u201cCard of Action.\u201d Event attendees wrote one-word commitments such as <em>Act<\/em>, <em>Protect<\/em>, <em>Unite<\/em>, and <em>Defend<\/em> in response to the question <em>\u201cHow do you respond to a warning?\u201d<\/em> This shared moment transformed the yellow card into a symbol of empowerment \u2013 encouraging people to recognize the warning signs and potential complications of CRM diseases, and act early to protect their overall health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event also featured friendly football matches among colleagues, reinforcing the essence of teamwork, collaboration, and shared commitment to CRM health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflecting on the initiative, <strong>Evren Ozlu, Head of Human Pharma for the India, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (IMETA) region<\/strong>, said, \u201c<em>CRM United<\/em> reflects our belief that awareness helps improve lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By connecting science with something people love \u2013 football \u2013 we hope to inspire earlier action and stronger understanding of how interconnected CRM health really is.
