What once took a skilled fraudster hours or days now takes a model seconds. Just in time for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraudweek.com\/\"><strong>International Fraud Awareness Week 2025<\/strong><\/a>, Nov. 16 \u2013 22, a new cross-industry survey of anti-fraud professionals by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and data and AI leader SAS finds that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>77% report an acceleration in deepfake social engineering<\/strong> over the past 24 months; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>83% anticipate a moderate (28%) to significant (55%) increase in such schemes <\/strong>in the next two years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These early insights \u2013 previewing the fourth edition of the <strong><em>Anti-Fraud Technology Benchmarking Report<\/em><\/strong>, coming in March 2026 \u2013 signal a rapid rise in AI-fueled fraud that is escalating risks for both industry and the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cArtificial intelligence has become one of the most powerful tools in business \u2013 and one of its most potent threats,\u201d said John Gill, JD, President of the ACFE. \u201cAwareness is our best defense as new risks continue to evolve.
