Unlike conventional plastics that persist in the environment, Luminy\u00ae PLA can be&nbsp;<strong>reused, mechanically and chemically recycled, or industrially composted &#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tec.leidardev.com\/resource\/case-study-a-comprehensive-look-at-compostable-plastics\/\"><strong>where it breaks down faster than banana or orange peels<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Luminy\u00ae portfolio includes high-heat, standard, and low-heat grades, as well as PDLA for stereocomplex compounds. This versatility makes it suitable for&nbsp;<strong>packaging, food service ware, textiles, 3D printing, and durable consumer goods<\/strong>. The partnership also covers recycled Luminy\u00ae PLA with 30% or 100% content allocation. Life cycle analysis confirms Luminy\u00ae PLA\u2019s outstanding sustainability profile:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Virgin Luminy\u00ae PLA has a cradle-to-gate footprint of\u00a0<strong>0.29 kg CO<\/strong><strong>\u2082<\/strong><strong>-eq per kg<\/strong>\u2014an\u00a0<strong>85% reduction<\/strong>\u00a0compared to conventional plastics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Incorporating\u00a0<strong>30% recycled content<\/strong>\u00a0delivers\u00a0<strong>carbon neutrality<\/strong>\u00a0(0.01 kg CO\u2082-eq per kg).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>100% recycled Luminy\u00ae PLA<\/strong>\u00a0achieves a footprint of\u00a0<strong>-0.65 kg CO<\/strong><strong>\u2082<\/strong><strong>-eq per kg<\/strong>, effectively a\u00a0<strong>negative carbon footprint<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By leveraging Multi Trade Group\u2019s market presence and expertise, the partnership will expand access to Luminy\u00ae PLA for converters, compounders, and brand owners across the region.
