As smartphones keep getting smarter, AI features are becoming a big part of the experience. Brands like Samsung <\/a><\/strong>and HONOR <\/a><\/strong>are working hard to stand out with new technology and upgrades. However, some of Samsung\u2019s latest features feel more like a response to what HONOR has already been doing, leaving users wondering if they\u2019re truly getting something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HONOR’s <\/a><\/strong>consistent innovation and focus on user privacy make its devices an appealing option for those looking for more than just basic upgrades. Meanwhile, Samsung\u2019s minimal improvements and questionable changes have left many users wondering if the latest models are truly worth the investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI User Experience<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the features Samsung highlighted and generated a lot of buzz around is AI Select<\/u><\/strong>, which allows users to draw a circle around an object they want to search for, and results will appear. However, this feature was actually introduced earlier by HONOR under the name AI Magic Portal<\/u><\/strong>. HONOR has since upgraded this feature with the AI Magic Portal 2.0 on the Magic7 Pro. With this version, users can circle any object and not only search for it<\/u><\/strong> but also drag it into booking, navigation, or messaging apps for a seamless experience<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Now Bar” <\/u><\/strong>introduced by Samsung has actually been available before from HONOR under the name Magic Capsule<\/u><\/strong>. This feature allows users to display information such as notifications, music, or modes and routines directly on the lock screen. Samsung\u2019s recent introduction of the “Now Bar” seems to be playing catch-up to this earlier innovation from HONOR.  Additionally, the Magic Capsule can be used through eye-tracking, making it more convenient and easier to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the major disappointments that could really frustrate users is the news that starting in 2026, Samsung plans to make subscriptions for users to unlock the benefits of Galaxy AI<\/u><\/strong>. It\u2019s strange that brands are now asking users to pay for features that should be included as part of the reason for buying the phone in the first place. What\u2019s even more concerning is that most of these AI features are already available for free on HONOR devices<\/u><\/strong>, making this move from Samsung feel even more unreasonable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI Photography & Camera Capabilities<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all know that AI in cameras plays an important role in enhancing photo quality. It also enables advanced features like motion detection and zoom, making it easier to capture the perfect shot in any situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to the AI algorithm of the Samsung S25 Ultra, HONOR Magic7 Pro stands out with its more advanced AI features like AI Super Zoom and AI Motion Sensing Capture<\/u><\/strong>, offering sharper, faster, and more detailed photos, especially in dynamic or distant shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, we’ve observed that some of the AI features introduced by HONOR have yet to be adopted by any other brand, indicating that HONOR is leading the way and thinking ahead when it comes to AI in devices<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, HONOR has been always dedicated to advancing on-device AI while prioritizing user privacy and data security<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that in mind, HONOR has created a new AI Deepfake Detection technology which is not on Samsung devices<\/strong> to help protect users from deepfake scams, especially during video calls. When making a video call, users can turn on the AI Deepfake Detection to quickly spot any signs of fake or altered faces. The technology works directly on the device to ensure privacy, showing HONOR’s commitment to providing innovative and responsible AI solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HONOR has also announced its eye-tracking feature,<\/strong> and this technology allows users to interact with their phones using their eyes to open notifications and apps, among other things. For example, Magic Capsule allows users to open apps, scroll and perform various functions completely hands-free, using only their eye movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, for many loyal S-series users, the absence of meaningful upgrades has left them hesitant to make the switch. Instead, they\u2019re opting to hold onto their older devices, hoping for better software updates in the future rather than rushing into a new phone that doesn\u2019t feel like much of a leap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
