Saudi Arabia launches Riyadh Action Agenda Community Platform to turn effective partnerships into action

Saudi Arabia has officially launched the Riyadh Action Agenda (RAA) Community Platform, an initiative aimed at strengthening engagement among the growing number of partners involved in the Riyadh Action Agenda and turning effective partnerships into objectives and tangible action.

The platform, which brings together around 200 international initiatives, was launched at an event held at the Saudi pavilion during the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17), hosted by Mongolia in the capital, Ulaanbaatar.

More than 50 representatives from governments, international organizations, research institutions and civil society organizations attended the event, including Mongolia’s Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Munkhtamir Batbayar, and Dr. Osama Faqeeha, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister for Environment at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.

Dr. Faqeeha said the new platform builds on the strong international engagement generated by the Riyadh Action Agenda since its launch during COP16 in Riyadh in December 2024.

He said the platform is designed to help translate targets and decisions into tangible action and effective partnerships through the Riyadh Action Agenda, contributing to land restoration and strengthening resilience to drought.

The Riyadh Action Agenda was launched by Saudi Arabia during its presidency of COP16 as part of efforts to advance the global action agenda. It seeks to encourage governments and the private sector to support initiatives that provide lasting solutions to land degradation, desertification and drought.
