Feeling the heat? Škoda cars keep both passengers and their snacks cool
Intense summer sunshine can heat up the interior of any car within just a few minutes. Modern Škoda vehicles, however, feature a range of technical solutions that help cool the cabin efficiently and maintain a comfortable environment on board.
Whether on long summer holiday journeys or everyday trips, equipment designed to ensure passenger comfort regardless of the temperatures outside always comes in handy. Air conditioning has become a standard feature today, although it is available in different variants. When configuring optional equipment, it is also worth considering a number of additional practical features.
Three-zone climate control
Climate control has become an absolute standard in the automotive world, enhancing both comfort and safety. Most Škoda models come equipped with it as standard, from the Kushaq to the top-of-the-line Superb L&K. However, the climate control systems differ across individual models. In some entry-level configurations, you can still find what’s known as manual climate control, but the majority of Škoda cars now offer Climatronic automatic climate control.
This can be single-zone, dual-zone, or three-zone. Single-zone means that the control sets a single temperature for the entire interior. Dual-zone allows for separate temperature settings for the left- and right-hand sides of the car, and three-zone also gives you the option to select a different temperature for rear-seat passengers. When using the climate control system, keep in mind the guidelines that help protect the health and well-being of the occupants.
Air-conditioned glove compartment
Cooling is also associated with one traditional Škoda Simply Clever feature: some models have an air-conditioned glove compartment. Once activated using a switch, cooled air from the air-conditioning system flows into the compartment, allowing drinks or snacks (ideally already chilled beforehand) to be kept cool. It is a simple yet effective solution.
Ventilated seats
In selected trim levels or as part of optional equipment packages, customers can choose ventilated front seats in addition to air conditioning. These are available for the Octavia, Superb, and Kodiaq models. By circulating air through the seats, they help cool occupants’ bodies and provide another way of improving comfort on board during hot weather. Even in this case, however, moderation is advisable, and excessive cooling should be avoided.
Panoramic sunroof
The Karoq, Kodiaq, and Superb Wagon models are available with an opening panoramic sunroof. The glass roof is divided into two sections, with the front section capable of sliding open to allow fresh air into the vehicle. This can be used to ventilate the interior, provide quick initial cooling at the start of your drive, or simply when using air conditioning is not required.
Remote control functions
Cooling the interior of a Škoda vehicle can also be initiated remotely in several different ways. The most basic solution is available in every model equipped with remote central locking: by pressing and holding the lock or unlock button on the key fob for several seconds, all side windows are automatically lowered. This allows hot air to escape from the vehicle after a long period of parking, even before the driver reaches it.
