Hassan Allam Elected as New Member of the American University in Cairo’s Board of Trustees
Cairo, November 20, 2025 — The American University in Cairo
(AUC) has announced the election of Hassan Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding and one of the region’s leading figures in engineering and construction, as the newest member of its Board of Trustees. Allam, an AUC alumnus who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2002, brings extensive expertise in development, investment, and the management of large-scale regional and international projects.
Mark Turnage, Chair of AUC’s Board of Trustees, welcomed Allam’s appointment, highlighting his long-standing relationship with the University and his notable contributions to the preservation of Egypt’s heritage and culture. “We are pleased to welcome Hassan Allam to the AUC Board of Trustees,” Turnage stated. “He has consistently been a distinguished partner to the University—an alumnus deeply proud of his connection to AUC, and a leader committed to safeguarding Egypt’s cultural legacy. His experience and vision represent an invaluable addition to the University’s strategic direction.”
Allam has served as CEO of Hassan Allam Holding since 2009, overseeing the group’s operations and regional expansion across ten countries. His leadership has emphasized efficiency, safety, and financial sustainability, driving the company’s growth and diversification in global markets. In 2025, the group ranked 45th on Engineering News-Record’s list of the world’s top 250 international contractors.
His commitment to development extends to an active engagement in civic and economic organizations. Allam is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies, the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, and the British Egyptian Business Association, among others.
Recently, AUC honored Allam with its Global Impact Award in recognition of his leadership in transforming the Grand Egyptian Museum from concept to operational reality through Legacy Development and Project Management, a subsidiary of Hassan Allam Holding.
The AUC Board of Trustees comprises volunteer members from the United States, Egypt, and around the world, who dedicate their time, expertise, and resources to advancing the University’s mission.
