Riyadh – Gulf Tech

The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) has completed its preparations to launch the second-ever Riyadh International Marathon.

According to official numbers collected through the marathon’s official electronic registration site, the upcoming event — which is set to take place on February 11th, 2023 — will be attended by significantly more participants than the first edition of the marathon. Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, the Quality of Life Program and Saudi Arabian Athletic Federation, upcoming event is expected to attract a higher turnout of participants than the inaugural marathon as a result of the high-level organizational procedures undertaken by SFA.

To help encourage as many people as possible to register for and take on the marathon, SFA has outlined an easy-to-follow registration process, creating an official Riyadh Marathon webpage for prospective participants to visit, which can be found at RiyadhMarathon23. People can also access the SFA app to learn more.

The marathon is scheduled to start at 06:25 am on February 11th, with participants dashing off from the starting line, located at King Saud University.

Open to people of all ages and abilities, the marathon will give community members a chance to put their endurance skills to the test while taking to the great outdoors. It will feature a range of races of varying distances — 42km, 21km, 10km, and 4km races — catering to people of different abilities, including athletic and non-athletic contestants.

Over the course of the marathon, participants will cross some of Riyadh’s most famous and beloved historical sites and monuments, including, including Digital City, and Diriyah. At the end of this journey, 24 winners from the advanced places in several categories will be awarded financial prizes, estimated at one million SAR.

As part of the event, participants will also be given access to a marathon village: a welcoming communal space where participants will be invited to enjoy a wide selection of fun-themed activities and experiences. Live entertainment will be provided at the marathon village, along with food and refreshments. The marathon village will be launched and open to guests from February 10th.

In addition to the marathon village, participants will also be able to make the most of several customized pre-marathon training programs. These programs will be scheduled and announced through the marathon website and its social media platforms.
