Saudi Sports for All calls on people to move 92 million steps with National day campaign to boost physical activity across the Kingdom

(Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) gulftech- In celebration of the Kingdom’s 92nd National Day, the Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) is picking up the pace of its efforts to create a healthier Saudi Arabia.

The Federation has challenged people — of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and genders — to walk 92 million steps in September in honor of the 92nd Saudi National Day.

Adopting a new slogan — “Move, because your movement moves our nation” — the Federation is urging people across the country with its National Day campaign to accelerate the Kingdom’s transformation by shifting their fitness plans into gear.

For the campaign, the SFA has developed different relatable scenarios for everyday people on “why we move.” Perhaps you move at the gym or move to save lives as an emergency rescue first responder, or you move to play your favorite sports? Or maybe you are moving in your construction, tourism, creative job? Whether you are a mother, a student, or maybe you are a person living with a disability, the National Day campaign invites you to move because we all are the engines that drive our society and move our nation to a healthier and happier society.

HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, SFA President, said: “We congratulate His Majesty, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the Kingdom’s progress and continual growth. Saudi National Day, widely known as a celebration of the Kingdom’s history and culture, is always marked in a specific way at SFA: with big wellness challenges. Every year, we have put out a nationwide call for our healthy active community to participate in goals, and every year you have delivered. This year, we want you to be louder and prouder than ever before about every step that you contribute toward our goal! I’ll be walking, you’ll all be walking, and the SFA wants to see you in action so tag our channels.”

National Day, a joyous occasion that brings people together to celebrate the nation’s proud history and ongoing progress, represents a fantastic opportunity to encourage even more focus on getting fit and active.

Accordingly — in the run-up to, on, and after Saudi National Day — SFA has put together a rich and diverse program of sporting events, experiences, and engagements to mobilize the nation and get people moving.

This will include the National Day steps virtual walking challenge held around the country. Launched on the SFA App, the challenge calls on people to walk 92 million steps collectively in honor of the Kingdom’s National Day. As an added incentive, more than a 1000 people will be rewarded for participating in the challenge. By participating, they will be automatically entered into a raffle to win SFA hampers, with a few lucky participants to set to win an iPhone or Apple Watch. This is very much in keeping with the SFA strategy to motivate the local population to become more physically active.

Additionally, a cycling event will also be hosted in collaboration with the Saudi Cycling Federation— on 23 September — inviting cyclists in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Eastern Province to pedal up to 15km.

The SFA National Day campaign forms part of the Federations’ ongoing work to offer more people access to world-class provisions and activities with the vision of creating a vibrant society in line with the Quality-of-Life Program objectives. Underlining the many benefits of physical exercise — including improvements to mental well-being, better sleep, increased energy, and lower levels of stress and anxiety — the Federation, as ever, is keen to impress upon all members of society that a healthier Saudi Arabia is a greater and more prosperous Saudi Arabia.
