#SaferForYou: TikTok dedicates February to Safety Month with plethora of partnerships, initiatives and activities
Riyadh, KSA – gulftech : In recognition of Safer Internet Day 2022, which is marked globally on February 8, TikTok, the leading destination for short-form videos, is dedicating February to all things safety in its first-ever Safety Month. Designed to educate its users on digital safety in a fun and engaging way, as well as encourage them to adopt a healthy relationship with the online world, Safety Month will be activated through a plethora of initiatives, partnerships and in-app activities. This includes a special series of Safety Month Refresher Videos with leading creators and the launch of the TikTok Safety Quiz Filter.
Farah Tukan, Head of Government Relations and Public Policy Middle East, Turkey, Africa and Pakistan, at TikTok said: “As a platform, Safety is an “always-on” campaign and something that we are consistently developing, improving and activating to ensure that the safety of our community is our utmost priority. This year we are looking to engage our community more into what we are doing as a platform and have them become active participants in the creation of this online safe space. We are very proud to launch Safety Month and all of its initiatives, such as the Safety Ambassadors Program that has now been revamped to the #SafeForYou program launching on Safer Internet Day. We look forward to enhancing our offering whilst continuing to spark creativity and bring joy to all”.
To kick-off Safety Month on TikTok, the platform will launch five Safety Month Refresher Videos on Safer Internet Day (February 8) with leading creators. Each taking on an important aspect of online safety, from Community Guidelines to Family Pairing, the videos are designed to be positive, engaging, light and authentic, and act as a refresher to the extensive controls and measures available on the platform that ensure a personally positive experience.
The video series will also act as a precursor to the upcoming TikTok #AllAboutSafety quiz filter, which will test users’ knowledge of safety on the platform. The creators will focus on tips and tricks for online safety and give users a cheat sheet for some of the key safety questions they might get at the upcoming quiz. All TikTok users will be able to participate in the Safety Quiz, answering simple yes and no questions focused on digital safety, and if the questions are answered correctly, the user will get a safety badge on their profile picture! In addition to the safety filter and badge, TikTok will launch a hub which will include all the top safety educational videos it has shared over the years.
During the month of February, TikTok will also work with three creators to launch safety videos focused on risks and online challenges. Collaborating with creators who regularly participate in TikTok challenges or are known as professional athletes/stunt artists, the videos will take users through fun and safe challenges, reminding the public to stop, think, decide, and act before putting themselves or others at risk.
