MENA-BASED TEAM ACHIEVES NEW RECORD IN THE GLOBAL SCENE FOR PUBG MOBILE

Al Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,  – gulftech : The Grand Finals of the PUBG MOBILE Global Championship 2021 (PMGC 2021) concluded successfully on January 23rd, crowning Nova Esports winners for the second year in a row. The winners of the previous PMGC tournament defended the title, winning an incredible 222 points and 101 eliminations in the overall rankings – taking home the prize pool of $1,500,000. Natus Vincere from Russia secured second place with 175 points, and Nigma Galaxy from Iraq came in third place with 166 points in the finals.

This year’s PMGC 2021 Grand Finals displayed an incredible development of MENA-based teams compared to the previous year. Regarded as the hope and symbol for all Arab teams, Nigma Galaxy competed fiercely in the global stage, winning the 2nd highest number of chicken dinners – 2 chicken dinners – and set a record as the first Arab team to reach the PMGC Grand Finals.

PUBG MOBILE Country Manager, John Lacey, commented on the Grand Finals performance, noting: “It has been a record-breaking year for PUBG MOBILE Esports in the MENA region. We are excited to witness the rapid growth and outstanding performances of these teams. This year, 3 teams from the region qualified to the PMGC league stage and Nigma Galaxy proved to the world that the region enjoys strong talent in mobile Esports, and exceeded expectations by globally placing third. We are excited to see the competitive year ahead unfold, as we introduce new regions and tournaments allowing more opportunities than ever before for PUBG MOBILE Esports players.”

PUBG MOBILE continues to  deliver excellent Esports experiences to gamers in the Middle East and North Africa region. The new season of PMPL Arabia will be kicked off from February 14th to March 5th, inviting all professional teams striving for the opportunity to compete in the newly-established tournament brand PMPL Africa.

For amateurs, the introduction of new regions across the PUBG MOBILE Club Open (PMCO) and PUBG MOBILE National Championship (PMNC) are now providing the gateway to PMPL. The PMCO will now be a regional Amateur & Semi-Pro competition with: PMCO South America, PMCO Europe, PMCO Africa, PMCO Middle East and PMCO Asia. PMCO teams will no longer be promoted directly to PMPL but instead, compete through PMNC and PMNC Regional Cup with a chance to reach PMPL and eventually the PUBG MOBILE Global Championship.

PUBG MOBILE was proud to partner with YouTube for PMGC 2021 with the entire event being broadcasted exclusively on the platform via the PUBG MOBILE Esports official channel, and 18 other local channels.
