World Stage Design 2025 – A Global Gathering of Creatives

From an Afro-Bhangra fusion with a British twist to Pickle Party, The Crying Room, performances that inspire deep reflection, and conversations shaping tomorrow’s heritage in the arts — the international expo of performing arts brings it all together.
Sharjah is set to host the Middle East debut of World Stage Design (WSD). Often called the ‘Expo’ of the global performing arts and performance design sectors, WSD2025 is taking place from 18th to 25th October 2025.
A quadrennial event, this is the sixth edition of WSD, co-produced by Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) and the International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians (OISTAT).
The event consists of three exhibitions:
- Design Exhibition at SPAA
- Theatre Architecture Competition at Bait Obaid Al Shamsi
- Technical Invention Prize at Sharjah Research and Technology Innovation Park
Scenofest, the most dynamic segment of the event, will happen across all WSD locations and presents performances that explore physical, emotional, metaphysical, and spiritual themes, alongside immersive experiences featuring costume, video, and sound.
Visitors can experience the energy of Northern India’s Bhangra and African rhythms with a British twist, or slow down for a good cry in the crying room. Listen to keynotes from experts in the world of performance design and live events, or attend workshops and talks on theatre-making, architecture, stage lighting, costume, sound, or puppet-making.
Dive into the art and science of pickling or catch timely discussions on sustainability, heritage, and innovation in theatre, and so much more. Full Scenofest schedule is available here: https://worldstagedesign2025.vfairs.com/en/#scenofest
WSD is a once-in-four-years opportunity for performance designers, theatre-makers, performing artists, educators, creative professionals, and arts enthusiasts to connect with professional and emerging counterparts from around the world, sharing inspiration, information, education, and fostering collaboration.
WSD2025 is supported by Sharjah Department of Culture, Build Partner – Taylex Group, Logistics Partner – EFM Global, WYSIWYG by Cast Group, Charcoal Blue, First Star Computer, Show Tex, Sapsis Rigging, and Protec.
