  • With Dubai and Abu Dhabi events, Sony Middle East and Africa reaffirms its commitment to empowering photographers and videographers with innovative tools and cinematic storytelling expertise

Sony Middle East and Africa announces the Sony Alpha Festival 2025, an exclusive event for photographers, videographers, and content creators in the UAE.

Set to take place on January 18, 2025, at Garage Studio, Al Quoz Logistic Park, Dubai, and on January 25, 2025 in Abu Dhabi, the festival aims to be an inspiring and hands-on experience for creative professionals eager to explore the latest in digital imaging.

With the theme, “Movie Scenes Reimagined Through Your Lens,” participants can immerse themselves into the realm of cinematic storytelling, drawing inspiration from Hollywood cinema—from dynamic action sequences to emotive narrative scenes—designed to support creators in finding new ways of capturing powerful visuals through meticulous shooting concepts.

Using Sony’s latest Alpha cameras, including the Alpha 1 II, Alpha 9 III, Alpha 7R V, and the versatile Alpha 7 IV, attendees can experience unparalleled technological advancements tailored for cinematic storytelling.

The Alpha 1 II features a wide range of AI-based subject recognition capabilities, optimized for both stills and movies, while the Alpha 9 III showcases the world’s first full-frame image sensor with a global shutter system, delivering superior image quality, enhanced color gradation, and realistic color reproduction.

Complementing these innovations will be workshops and masterclasses led by Sony Ambassadors and industry professionals, focusing on advanced techniques in lighting, composition, and visual storytelling to align with the cinematic theme.

Sony Ambassadors Hind AlRaeesi, Ian Nieuwenhuizen, and Timothy Fare-Matthews will guide attendees through an educational journey tailored to elevate their creative vision. Hind AlRaeesi, a renowned portrait and lifestyle photographer, will delve into capturing authentic emotions and storytelling through still photography.

Ian Nieuwenhuizen, an award-winning videographer, will focus on dynamic cinematography techniques, emphasizing action and movement. Timothy Fare-Matthews, a cinematic director and visual artist, will explore advanced cinematic concepts, including visual narratives and using Sony’s tools to craft compelling movie-like scenes.

Jobin Joejoe, Managing Director, Sony Middle East and Africa, said, “The Sony Alpha Festival has continued to be a place and platform for photographers and videographers to learn and engage more with the creative community.

This year’s spotlight on cinematic storytelling reflects our commitment to giving creators the right tools, technique, and inspiration that will further their craft. We want, through this event, to nurture this growing creative industry in the UAE.”

With the UAE’s growing digital content market, the Sony Alpha Festival 2025 presents an invaluable opportunity for creators of all levels to explore cutting-edge imaging technology, hone their skills, and expand their creative horizons.

Whether you are a seasoned professional or an aspiring amateur, the festival offers a chance to dive into the captivating world of cinematic storytelling and unlock your creative potential.
