Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) has expanded the ranges of its high-performance electric vehicle (EV) tires, the ‘iON evo’ and ‘iON evo SUV,’ following the successful launch of the iON brand last year.

These tires will be offered in three sizes: 18, 20, and 21 inches. They are engineered to provide a quiet, comfortable ride, as well as enhanced fuel efficiency and extended mileage, making them a top choice for Saudi EV owners.

The high-quality EVs currently available on the market require specially designed high-performance tires to unlock their full driving potential.

Addressing the challenges posed by the strong torque and battery weight of EVs, Hankook Tire has introduced its ‘iON INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY’ system, ensuring the iON delivers outstanding grip, handling, and braking performance.

The iON also excels in comfort and convenience. Hankook Tire’s advanced technologies, including ‘EV Grip Boost Technology’ and ‘i Sound Absorber,’ enhance cornering stiffness by up to 10% and reduce interior noise by 18%. By minimizing rolling resistance, iON tires also boost fuel efficiency by up to 6%.

Additionally, the iON’s ‘ProDurable Compound,’ specially designed for EVs, reduces wear and tear, resulting in up to 15% longer mileage and fewer replacements.

Before its official launch in Saudi Arabia, Hankook Tire’s iON evo had already established itself as a leading product in the tire segment for high-performance EVs.

In 2023, the iON evo secured a win in a test conducted by Auto Bild, one of Germany’s leading automotive magazines, receiving exceptional evaluations in four categories: wet braking, dry braking, rolling resistance, and wet handling.

The accolades continued this year, with the iON evo winning the ‘2024 Overall WhatTyre Tire of the Year’ and ‘Electric Car Tire of the Year’ awards from WhatTyre, a leading tire comparison website and news platform in the United Kingdom. Additionally, the iON evo SUV earned the highest rating of ‘Exemplary’ in this year’s Auto Bild tire test, where it was praised as the best choice among EV tires for its excellent dynamics and balanced driving performance.

Hankook Tire is consolidating its leadership in the EV tire market through continuous innovation and technology development.

As the official technical partner and tire supplier of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Hankook Tire continues to lead the electric vehicle market.

In addition, Hankook Tire has solidified its position as a premium Original Equipment (OE) supplier for major electric vehicle models, including Porsche Taycan, the Audi e-tron GT and Q4 e-tron, the BMW i4, and the Volkswagen ID.4.

The iON evo and iON evo SUV in different sizes are now available at Hankook Tire’s Bin Shihon Nationwide Branch and Autobox, which operates over 40 locations across Saudi Arabia.
