An international award for the Saudi aviation sector in energy and environmental design
APSCO achieves leadership in the implementation of green building concepts in its facilities

The Saudi civil aviation sector, represented by the Arabian Petroleum Supply Company APSCO, won an international award presented by the U.S. Green Building Council. The Council is one of the most famous international environmental organizations known for its leadership in relying on clean energy, reducing carbon emissions, and the efficient use of energy.
The US Green Building Council (USGBC) has awarded APSCO the Gold Award for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for its facilities at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The certification guarantees APSCO’s commitment to designing and building its facilities with a green building concept that includes reducing energy consumption, relying on clean energy, and reducing the rate of carbon emissions from the building.
The project, developed with innovative standards such as the v4 standard for architectural design and construction, confirms that the place adheres to energy-saving plans. The plans include optimizing energy and water use, reducing CO2 emissions, improving indoor air quality, and resource management thanks to modern design and efficient use of energy.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation, in its eighth meeting of the steering committee for the implementation of the national strategy for the aviation sector, chaired by His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, granted certificates of appreciation to the operating companies that obtained international merit for activities related to environmental protection and sustainability, foremost among them is “APSCO”, in the presence of CEOs, officials, and representatives from different companies and national carriers operating in the civil aviation sector in the Kingdom.
The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Al-Duailej, confirmed that the aviation sector’s strategy is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, in enhancing the level of safety and upgrading services to achieve the highest quality standards, announcing the Global Airport Services Evaluation Program for the year 2022.
