Riyadh, gulftech

PepsiCo, the world’s leading food and beverage company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Center for Industrial Development (NCID) which will empower the Kingdom’s food sector workforce by developing skills and opportunities through a transfer and localization of knowledge.

The partnership will help nurture a highly skilled workforce contributing towards an effective and flexible food system, in line with the aims of Vision 2030 and the NCID and PepsiCo business strategies.

The MoU was signed in the presence of CEO of NCID Eng. Nizar bin Youssef Jamal Al-Hariri and PepsiCo Vice President of Food Industries and General Manager Business Unit GCC and Levant, Tamer Musallam who welcomed the strategic partnership, “The MoU will have a positive impact on PepsiCo’s initiatives to empower the local workforce. The cooperation arrangement with NCID reflects our ongoing investment, as a leading company, in the development of the Kingdom’s skilled workforce in the sustainable food sector,” he said.

“It underlines our commitment to providing a unique work environment offering equal opportunities in line with our company’s global goals. We are also inspired by the principles of the PepsiCo ‘Winning with Purpose’ strategy to develop exceptional talent and create a national workforce that reflects the diversity of local communities.

“The MoU will also accelerate another of our strategic goals in the Kingdom, to provide locally manufactured products,” he added.

The MoU follows PepsiCo’s “Proudly Saudi” campaign, one of the largest campaigns implemented by the company in the region, aimed at emphasizing its commitment to the market. PepsiCo already employs more than 8,000 people in Saudi Arabia, while at the same time successfully raising the Saudization rate by more than 43%.

PepsiCo was also recently awarded a gold category “Mowaamah” certificate by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in recognition of its dedication to creating a suitable work environment for people with special needs.
