NEW STUDY REVEALS WATERWIPES® IS THE NO.1 WIPE AGAINST THE CAUSES OF DIAPER RASH
Gulftech, KSA: Ground-breaking, independent, academic research has revealed that WaterWipes® is now clinically tested to be the No.1 wipe against the causes of diaper rash.[i]
The first of its kind ‘Baby Skin Integrity Comparison Survey’ (BaSICS) by the University of Salford compared the occurrence and duration of nappy rash on newborns with two other leading brands of baby wipes, randomly allocated to almost 700 mothers who participated. It revealed that babies cleansed with WaterWipes® are less likely to get diaper rash and, if they do, it doesn’t last as long compared to other leading brands.1
The study showed that baby’s cleansed using WaterWipes® had less diaper rash* (19%), compared to those cleansed with brand one (25%) or brand two (30%). For each day of diaper rash* experienced by the WaterWipes® babies, it lasted approximately 50% longer on babies using the other leading brands.
The results highlight that WaterWipes®, the world’s purest baby wipes, are helping parents care for their baby’s sensitive skin. The wipes are made using our unique water technology and contain just two ingredients – 99.9% purified water and a drop of fruit extract and are proven to be purer than cotton wool and water[ii], providing parents the reassurance they are giving their little ones the most gentle and effective clean. Other brands in the study are marketed as mild and gentle enough for newborn skin but are formulated with more ingredients compared to WaterWipes®.
Commenting on the results, Professor Penny Cook, Professor in Public Health at the University of Salford, said: “The BaSICS study is the first research indicating that a baby wipe product may be a determinant of infant skin integrity in the first eight-weeks of life. These findings indicate that the baby wipe with the fewest ingredients has the lowest incidence and shortest duration of moderate diaper rash*.”
Diaper rash is one of the most common skin complaints, with one in four babies and toddlers in diapers having it at any one time[iii]. It can be characterised by red patches on baby’s bottom, or the whole area may be red. Their skin may look sore and feel hot to touch, and there may be spots, pimples, or blisters.[iv]
Newborn skin is vulnerable and delicate, with it having a less effective skin barrier function compared to that of older children and adults. This means babies’ skin is more susceptible to permeability and dryness, and as a result their skin requires special care and protection.
A spokesperson from WaterWipes® said: “The BaSICS study is an important milestone in baby’s skin health and we are proud that WaterWipes® have been clinically tested as the No.1 wipe against the causes of diaper rash. When your baby has diaper rash, we understand it can be an upsetting and distressing time for parents. That is why, at WaterWipes®, we are dedicated to providing parents with the best products to care for and protect their baby’s delicate skin. As a product that was born out of a father’s desire to gently care for his daughter’s sensitive skin, we know that diaper rash can be tough on you and your baby.
