Dettol partners with RCMC to ensure a Safer and Protected Hajj 2021

As the battle with COVID-19 continues, Dettol is playing a pivotal role in its efforts globally by creating safe and hygienic environments while driving mass education to instill improved hygiene habits in consumers. In the same spirit, the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites (RCMC) is prioritizing upholding the strictest hygiene standards to ensure a safe and protected Hajj for pilgrims and frontline workers this year.

With this joint vision, Dettol and the RCMC, represented by Kidana Company for Development have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly advance health and hygiene standards for the pilgrims and the frontline workers.

On this occasion, Tahir Malik, SVP, Reckitt Africa & Middle East (AME) said, “At Reckitt, our purpose is to protect, heal, and nurture in the relentless pursuit of a cleaner, healthier world. Especially in the AME region, our brands have a critical role to play, now more than ever, by promoting access to hygiene and health products in the fight against Covid-19. Through our number one germ protection brand Dettol, this year we will be the Official Partner for a Safe and protected Hajj, offering the best protection against the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The collaboration aims to protect the 60,000 pilgrims and 30,000 frontline workers by providing 90,000 free hygiene kits during the event. In addition, Dettol and Harpic will support in operating over 1,000 public toilets in the Haram area – offering cleaning supplies, educational materials, and training across multiple locations.

We recognize the sacred journey that pilgrims are about to undertake and stand with them, answering the call to protect them on their way. The RCMC is prioritizing preventative health measures and we’re honored to partner with them in their journey to ensure the health and safety of all attending pilgrims allowing them to perform the rituals of Hajj with ease. The partnership will guarantee that all pilgrims and frontline staff have access to the highest quality health and hygiene products as we continue to navigate the pandemic,” added Tauseef Faisal, Regional Director, Reckitt Middle East.

Kidana Company for Development is investing efforts in raising the bar for health and hygiene at the holy sites, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic have and recently launched several initiatives for the Hajj season.

“This partnership with Dettol is an ongoing part of Kidana’s approach, to develop its partnerships with the private sector in raising the quality of service in the holy sites. There will be many partnerships that seek to realize Kedana vision, in making a healthy, disease-free pilgrimage,” Kidana

The free hygiene packs available for all pilgrims and key workers will contain a carefully selected range of products to cover all needs related to the germ prevention and hygiene materials during the Hajj period.

The partnership is part of Reckitt’s efforts to support the global fight against COVID-19 with its Reckitt Fight for Access Fund, which was created to fight against the spread of Covid-19. Reckitt’s immediate focus is to address the stress faced by its consumers and communities and to break the chain of infection.
