Chery Achieves Record With 200,000 Monthly Sales; Demand Surges in the Kingdom
Chery Group has achieved a historic milestone in October 2023, selling 200,313 vehicles and surpassing 200,000 monthly sales, for the first time in its history, representing a significant 50.8% year-on-year increase, further establishing Chery’s position as a leader in the automotive industry.
A significant contributor to this achievement has been the outstanding performance of its Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 7 models, which sold 22,987 and 26,224 units respectively in October, driving their sales growth. In the first ten months of the year, Chery Group’s achieved 1,453,550 cumulative vehicle sales, marking a 41.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
At the Geneva International Motor Show, Chery showcased five products from the Tiggo and Arrizo families, including two global debut PHEV models: The Tiggo 8 Pro Plug-in Hybrid and Tiggo 7 Pro Plug-in Hybrid.
According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), China’s narrow-definition passenger car retail sales in October were approximately 2.02mn units, a 9.5% increase year-on-year.
Chery Group’s sales, on the other hand, have exceeded 50% growth, outperforming the industry average by a significant margin.
The Chery brand alone, among the group’s many brands, sold 140,360 vehicles in October, a 50.3% increase year-on-year, with sales from January to October totaling over 1,049,734 vehicles, a 35.8% year-on-year increase. This marks the first time that the Chery brand has surpassed the million-unit mark.
Chery’s technological prowess was also on full display at the 2023 “Chery Tech Day”, underlining the company’s commitment to technological innovation.
As part of its strategic framework, Chery has made significant advancements in core technologies, resulting in world-class advantages in safety, energy consumption, space, intelligent cabin and intelligent driving.
Chery actively embraces its corporate social responsibilities by organizing various green and low-carbon development initiatives like the Global Automotive Ecological Expo and “Public Benefit Riding” under its “In Somewhere, For Somewhere” global concept which promotes environmental protection. Chery’s dedication to social responsibility is further shown by its USD $6mn donation to UNICEF for children’s education projects and its partnership with IUCN to support environmental conservation efforts.
Looking ahead, Chery aims to boost the sales of the Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 7 models in overseas markets, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where demand for Chery vehicles has been steadily growing. The company’s strategy for the fourth quarter aligns with its objective of achieving continuous rapid growth through a comprehensive approach to the promotion of new energy sources.
